Hi there,

Welcome to the blog. I hope that you enjoy reading it.

So, who am I? Kathryn – clinical microbiologist by education, geek (you have been warned), closet theologian, musician, and lover of flowery language, amongst other things. But first of all, I’m a Christian, and it’ll probably come across! I’m passionate about God, and I’m passionate about communicating truth: theological, scientific, and random interesting and funny things.

If you read this and don’t believe the things that I do, I hope you still enjoy reading my posts. More than that, I hope that you see something about God in my musings – not just my opinion. And for my fellow Christians out there, I hope that what I say encourages you. But please, whatever I say, don’t take my word for it. Weigh it up against what the Bible says. Test it. Because I’d rather you forget anything I say that isn’t true and doesn’t line up with what God has already said about Himself. I often use the wisdom of people who know much more than I do, and when I do, I’ll tell you where I get it from.

A Shireling? Some would say that it’s a comment on my towering 5’2” stature (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE). But it more comes from the fact that I grew up in lovely Oxford, home of many good things and set in the beautiful Oxon countryside that is rumoured to be inspiration for the Shire in Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings. Of which I’m an avid fan.

Happy reading!

– Kathryn
